Where to begin...a little background on who we are. We are a family of four with two children, 15 and 19 who have traveled to Destin and stayed at a number of condos and houses over the years. This year we traveled with my mother and brothers family which included younger kids. The house seemed like the perfect setup as it had an additional, separate living space. Upon arrival it was very obvious the house lacked any type of maintenance. The kitchen had two lights out, a kitchen cabinet door fell off when it was opened, the shower curtain in the upstairs bathroom had mold on it, the toilet paper holder in the master bathroom was sitting above the toilet on a shelf due to it falling off the wall, the tile floors were not clean at all, one of the queen beds were only made up with sheets, no comforter, the bathroom in the additional living space had a substantial amount of mold in the corners, the back sliding glass door did not lock. These were just the issues we observed on arrival. The first night there the smoke detector went off the entire night. The kitchen, although stocked was lightly stocked with the bare minimum. As the four days went along we had a large cockroach show up in the master bathroom, the TV in the bathroom did not work, the remote in one of the upstairs rooms did not work, the fireplace was inoperable, the community pool was not heated, the dishwasher was not fastened to anything so when you opened the door to load or unload it the entire thing would tip toward the floor. There is cut in a water line next to the driveway that sprayed water and would flood the area. Someone fro RealJoy came and replaced the light bulbs and the shower curtain upstairs and the following day a maintenance worker fixed the sliding glass door. They were very polite and apologized for the inconvenience. These problems should be taken care of prior to someone’s arrival not during their stay. We will definitely be returning to Destin and will definitely not be staying at this home again or any RealJoy vacation properties.

The RealJoy staff were very kind and courteous! They were also very easy to work with.
The reason for my low score was mainly for the cleanliness of the Beach Break house and the lack of kitchen cooking items. Upon arriving the house smelled very musty and like it had been shut up for sometime. The ceiling HVAC vents were covered in a dust/mold type of coating. The floors literally made our feet black. There was a vacuum on site- that didn’t work properly. Thank goodness, we brought our own. We took one day and myself and 4 other women cleaned the floors and washed all the dishes and linens. To have paid a cleaning fee- it was a bummer to have to spend a day cleaning while on vacation.
The Destiny East community and pool were top notch- very clean and our kids loved the playground. The gated community was nice, and the house had lots of parking space. This house could easily be given some TLC and be awesome. Many of the switches did not work- lights and lamps had missing/blown light bulbs and there weren’t any onsite to change out.
The RealJoy company was pleasant to work with, but because of the houses condition we will never consider staying at Beach Break again for our annual vacation to Destin.

Our experience with the RealJoy staff was pleasant they respond extremely fast and tried to address our issues quickly as well . They were really accommodating and nice . The house we stayed in was spacious . It was not that clean we went to the store and bought cleaning supplies to clean it ourselves instead of reporting it . All beds were made but because it was kind of dirty we just washed all of the linen . I’m lost when I’ve read comments about them not addressing issues and unresponsive because that was certainly not the case for us .

Beautiful Million $$ home. Tons of space for many guests. Excellent location with a short beautiful walk to the beach. Easy to access the gated neighborhood and home with provided codes. The home lacked the following 1) garbage bags for the kitchen trash 2) soap. Both are minor but I expected these to be provided. Also, the garbage can outside smelled like there was a dead animal in there.

My family enjoyed this house for the week. It was big enough to accommodate all 18 of us. We would stay there again.

Upon arrival, we discovered many things that were not working or the way they should have been. First, there were no mattress pads on the beds in the carriage room. This was corrected on Monday by a member of the Real Joy staff. Second, the lights over the kitchen table were burned out. The next day they came and put bulbs in, but they were not the larger flood lights that were in them, but smaller bulbs. Adequate, but not the correct bulbs. In the master bathroom, we arrived to see a note on the lovely jaccuzi tub that said, "Do not use. Major leak." Above the tub, one of the lights was hanging down by its wires. Also there is a light bulb burned out over the mirror in the master bedroom. The shower in the master has mold around the bottom of it, as does the shower in the carriage house. Throughout both houses, it looks like the walls were painted, but all hardware (like nails and screws) were left in place and painted over. Several blinds were broken off (two in the master bedroom on the ground floor where people could look in). Some in the carriage house were also broken. The hooks in the master bath were cheap plastic and metal hooks. The silverware was so cheap we could easily bend them with are bare hands. We did not, but there were several pieces in the drawer that we straightened back up. The were at least two very dirty pieces of silverware with hardened food on them in the drawer. There were not lamps in most of the bedrooms, which meant the a person had to turn off the light and find their way to their bed (or use their phone flashlight). We were given the wrong code to get in the gate, so we followed someone in the first time, then the second time, the person behind us gave us the correct code. We were told that the code would change in May, which it did not. We were told that we would have access to a golf cart, which did not happen. The last day we were there, we loaded the dishwasher and went out to eat. When we returned, there was a gross mess in the the garbage disposal sink where something had backed up into it. We tried resetting the garage disposal, like we were told by Perry, but that obviously was not the problem, as it did not work, so we just left the mess to be fixed. Two of my party tried to dry towels in the dryer in the Carriage House. After only a couple of tumbles the dryer started making loud noises. When they opened the door, the towel was caught in the dryer and the towel had grease on it. It ruined one of my friend's beach towel. The air conditioning did not work properly in the carriage house at first. It, too, had to be fixed by your maintenance man.
We were told by the property manager, when she came on Monday, that she had had 3 deaths in her family and theeperson who previewed this house did not do a good job of pre-checking the house. NO kidding!
I realize that Real Joy just took over this property a week before, but if the property wasn't ready and did not meet the quality expected with houses in the neighborhood, something should have been done. When I booked this, I took it on faith that it was being "remodeled." This house could be a good house, but it isn't right now. Small touches, like lamps in the bedrooms, kleenex in the bathrooms, placemats for the tables, a mixer. a blender, extra toilet paper, extra paper towels, etc. would make this so much nicer. We were told that we would get one roll of TP for each bathroom, and after that, we had to get our own. Pretty tacky!
WE were 6 60+ sisters (and sister-in-laws) that traveled from CA, OK, TN, and GA. We made the best of the situation, but I would have liked it so much better to have treated them to a high quality rental house. We loved the beach, the neighborhood, and the pool. They were all great!
I spent a great deal of my vacation time, either reporting or answering texts about things that were wrong in this house. I doubt that all of your customers have to do what I did. I will think twice before renting with Real Joy ever again.
