Beautiful cabin and views-We would come back next year, very clean, comfortable .and location good for traveling north or south.lots of fans and air condioner work well.
5 STARS-Cabin was overall great! Very clean when we arrived. Durango Vacation girls were very helpful at any & all times. I would recommend a ceiling fan upstairs over the bed since alot of the heat rises.
Great place to stay!-Our cabin was clean, comfortable, it had everything that we needed and more. It was nice walking around the grounds of the cabin, very neat and well kept, the view of the pond off the deck was pleasant and relaxing. The location was excellent, it was a pleasant scenic drive to visit Durango, Silverton and Telluride -- the fall colors were spectacular. One day was rainy, so we took the opportunity to drive over Wolfe Creek Pass to visit Creede. Too many things to do and not enough time! Plan to schedule another stay at the same cabin next year!
We had an Amazing time at this cabin. We enjoyed hiking, biking and sliding down purgatory mountain. We rented a razor and drove around in the woods. We went horseback riding by purgatory. We hiked up cascade creek. We drove to Silverton and we spent time in Durango eating at many good restaurants. We also went river rafting at Mild to Wild. So many things to do! Great cabin and well kept landscape. It could use some better pans and utensils for cooking but it worked. We had a wonderful time!
this cabin was perfect-Really enjoyed the cabin, was perfect for my family, and very relaxing and loved the location, it was close to a lot of the things we wanted to do.
Quiet and Peaceful-The Double J cabin was a wonderful place to go to at the end of long days of sight-seeing and outside activities. It is very quiet and peaceful, and in a very beautiful location. It is about 20 miles outside Durango, and we loved just driving through the wonderful scenery going back and forth between the cabin and our other activities. The listing description and photos were very accurate. The cabin and the outside area are both well maintained and everything was sparkling clean. We did not use the oven or dishwasher in the cabin (my idea of a vacation does not include cooking!) but the cabin appeared to have a large supply of dishes and cooking utensils. There were plenty of towels and even small sizes of amenities such as lotion, shampoo, etc. We liked having wi-fi and the HDTV with satellite. The cabin also contained a nice selection of information about places to eat and activities in the area. The owners seemed to really try to have anything guests would possibly need. We ate at a couple of really good places in Durango. We liked Doughworks for breakfast - they make their own doughnuts and pastries and have a great selection of items. If you really want to go back in time, try the Durango Diner - counter eating and huge portions. We also ate at Chimayo Stone Fired Kitchen, which is a bistro-type restaurant with many different kinds of wood-fired pizzas and small plates (the fire-roasted jalapeno guacamole was great!) We always ride the Durango/Silverton Train, which is always fun. This year we also did the zipline at Full Blast Adventure Center in Durango - something kids of all ages would love. Downtown Durango is full of neat shops and a couple of really good bookstores. We loved the Double J cabin and we love Durango.
Having stayed closer to Durango we were looking for a cabin a bit higher up closer to Purgatory and Silverton. This Cabin was great, It was close enough to town that groceries were not an expedition and close enough to all the hiking trails for us. The House has a king bed upstairs and two twins in the second room. We did not use the sofa as there was only three of us. The Kitchen had enough pots and pans etc to make most food and plenty of towels sheets etc. Having Wifi was handy and appreciated at night. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is my son noted this was the only place in Colorado we have stayed that did not have a fire pit outside, which would have been a delight.
The road is no problem in the summer and could be driven by any car. I would definitely recommend.
Quiet cabin in the woods, away from it all!-We enjoyed our stay immensely! We wanted a place outside of Durango which felt like a mountain cabin and it did. It is 20 miles from most restaurants and activities, so be aware! It had everything we needed and the kids enjoyed exploring! We were there during a hot spell so the one AC unit upstairs was not enough to cool the house for everyone, so even with fans it was a bit uncomfortable. It is the perfect place if you don't want to be in a hotel or condo close to others.
Beautiful Property-Four of us stayed at this home for five nights. It is a gorgeous property with beautiful views all around. We loved sitting outside and soaking up nature's beauty. The master suite upstairs was very comfortable and roomy, as was the downstairs bedroom. The living area was a little bit tight for four people since the only furniture, besides the kitchen table, was one couch. That was not a big deal since we were usually gone but when we did watch a movie at night someone had to sit in a wooden kitchen chair. The grill worked great as did all kitchen appliances. The coffee pot is very old, and does not have an automatic shutoff so be sure to turn it off before you leave. The kitchen had all cookware and utensils that we needed and we used the stove, oven and grill during our stay- all worked properly. The unit came with toiletries that you would find in a hotel room, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee filters, plenty of bedding and towels. Overall a fabulous property and I only held back a fifth star due to the limited seating in the living area.
Wonderful family holiday cabin-We were a family of four visiting from Bermuda and we loved the cabin and the area. The cabin and outside area were wonderfully clean and well stocked. The agents were great to deal with and very prompt at answering my queries. I would agree with the previous review that the cabin would benefit from an extra arm chair as the seating would have been tight if our children were bigger. There is so much to do in the area and a couple of good places to eat within a five minute drive, our favourite was the Sow's Ear. Should we ever return to Electra Lake we would definitely stay in the cabin again. Thank you!
Great winter get-away-Wonderful winter get-away. Great location, above snowline in early winter, enabling us to have a beautiful white Christmas. Easy access to great back-country skiing and winter sports at Purgatory and up higher on Molas Pass and Silverton. Manager of property super-responsive and property was well equipped. Super comfortable master bedroom suite! Great place to stay while visiting Durango family.
