Roomy and quaint with a world class view. Was a great getaway to the coast with friends and the dogs. Checkin and out was easy and quick. Gonna come back in the off season months when the beach isn't so crazy packed (not surprising as the weather was THAT perfect and half of portland was in town). Great weekend getaway.
Pros: There was a good selection of cookware and plenty of dishes. The view is pretty and the flowers on the road up and around the house are gorgeous. There were plenty of towels for the 5 of us.
Cons: This house really needs fans and screens on both doors since there is no air conditioning. My daughter got two big spider bites sleeping in an upstairs bedroom. 3 of the 4 beds were very hard. You couldn’t see the sunset from this house which faces south.
Summary: This is not a house that we would rent a 2nd time. We’ve rented many houses, and this is the first house that I’ve been really disappointed with. Part of it was being in a hurry when I made the reservation (one bathroom, small dining room table, two bedrooms that weren’t closed off, dark/tight bedroom downstairs), and part of it could be corrected (see cons above).
The property was fun, quirky and had an absolutely amazing view. The beds were decent, and everything was fairly clean. The shower curtain needed to be replaced and the vacuum didn't work. There were a few hiccups however. It was dark when we arrived, and the front porch light was burned out, so had to use our cell phone flash lights so we didn't stumble around - safety issue for sure. My stay was for 5 nights, the only heat source was a wood stove, and there were only 3 bundles of grocery store firewood left, even though the site said "Wood Supplied". No kindling either, but we managed. Did find dry firewood in the garage the next morning, so used most of that up during our stay. Extra blankets in the main bedroom were ragged and moth-eaten, and there was a major sugar ant issue going on. Finally, the metal fittings on the tarp straps holding down the hot tub cover were rusted, and broke when we managed to get them off. I advised the KCP office in person when I dropped off the payment the next day, and the man working took down all the notes, but no offer of getting any of the issues resolved while we were there was made. That was the most disappointing aspect of the visit. I'll keep KCP in mind for future coastal visits, but likely not my first choice going forward.
Excellent! Very hospitable and helpful service from the management company!
Herons Perch is a very nice property, the view is amazing. We all had a wonderful time and will visit again.
It was amazing stay. And they were quick to take care of any problems that occurred. I will definitely be back
Great place, great service.
This place may not be for everyone, but it suited our party of 2 old ladies perfectly! The view from the deck is to die for. The hot tub on the deck- paradise. The sky full of milky way stars - shooting stars in late Aug!- was magical from the hot tub at night! There were some “tweaks” that we at first thought were overlooked - like a patio umbrella or a box fan - but they knew what they were doing - strong winds make umbrellas dangerous, and only on the rarest of heat advisory and no wind (like we experienced) days would a fan even be a thought at the back of anyone else’s mind! There is a truly cool vintage 1965 mid century modern stove/cooktop in the kitchen that is in mint working condition - that was a delight to my cooking travelling companion. But she complained about the old Teflon-coated frying pans - but as I pointed out, old pots and pans are what EVERY vacation rental has - nobody puts their premium kitchenware in a vacation cabin!
The view from the deck was absolutely stunning and we enjoyed the birdwatching. There were quite a few cobwebs in the house and some areas felt like it could’ve been a little cleaner.
Great house very comfortable. Loved The hot tub. Awesome view. Wonderful weekend. Kiwanda Coastal Properties people are always friendly and easy to work with. Tried the new Asian fusion restaurant The Beach Wok in Pacific city really good food. Especially loved the spicy calamari and the Korean meatballs. If you go for a walk at Bob Straub state park stay on the beach, the bay trail and the marsh trail are swarming with mosquitoes.
Wonderful view from the deck & hot tub! A good location just outside of town with easy access to Pacific City amenities and the beach. The home is good size for couples and a small family, but probably doesn't accommodate more than 4-6 guests with 1 bathroom and current dining setup. Some comments to improve on the instructions: a key to the hot tub was not needed, please provide enough dish soap to hand wash dishes, and there are no outside garbage cans to take out trash.
Housekeeping needs to be stepped up. Dust under bed in downstairs bedroom made me uncomfortable
The view is spectacular! The hot tub usage was easy to navigate and obviously the view was made even better when enjoying it. The fireplace and space heater worked well to heat the entire home and they provided plenty of wood. The kitchen has all the cookware you could want, but there was only pepper (no other spices or cooking oil), so plan accordingly. The rental agency was so responsive! I would definitely stay here again.
The Dish TV service was not usable, tried troubleshooting but seems related to connection line.
Great location and view. My family had an awesome time. The only problem we came across were the sugar ants and the lack of wood for the fireplace. The ants seemed to be treated by ant traps. The fireplace is the only source of heat for the house other than a small space heater. The ad showed that they supplied the wood. The rental company had me go to thriftway to pick up more firewood. They also said they would reimburse me $25. Not a deal breaker but something to be aware of. We would stay here again.
Awesome house, awesome view. Closer to a lot of awesome beaches and others spots.
The views were amazing, the house really a classic, and we appreciated how well supplied the house was with kitchen/bath/games/wifi/binoculars and on and on. I enjoyed watching birds and weather off of that amazing deck. It felt so private, and the house was very comfortable. Thanks for a great visit!
Ants ,bathroom window without privacy minimal pet area. Wasn't worth the money .
The pictures do not do it justice.. We had an amazing stay, enjoyed the hot tub in the storm and the house stayed very warm for just having a small portable heater, we didn't have to light a fire. We will be going again.
